Second edition, published the same year as the first. This contemporary history covers all the great naval battles as well as the overland fighting. Four of the seven plates are of naval battles, with a frontispiece portrait of Zebulon Pike and a folding map (16 x 20) with the title A New Improved Seat of War Map.” The map, bound in ahead of the portrait of Pike, has an expertly repaired tear and another unrepaired tear of about two inches, neither impacting the presentation. This is the map called for in Howes M38, but rarely found. Copies of MCartys book with the large folding map and all the plates are scarce items on the market. Howes M-38. Smith II, 1115. Bound in 20th century paper covered boards.
