The “Polynesia” boasts of being the smallest clipper loading and claims a passage of 104 days. At the date of sailing documented by this card, she loaded at Pier 9 in New York for San Francisco. H.G. Morse was her master. It is one of the more attractive unillustrated cards, printed in red and blue on a white background. It measures 6 1/2 x 4 inches and is in very good condition. Accompanying the card is an invoice from 1855 for goods, including beans and dried apples, shipped by Glidden & Williams from Boston to San Francisco aboard the “Polynesia” in 1855. The “Polynesia” burned in 1862. Clipper ship billheads are scarce.
