A geographical journey of 2500 miles, from Quebec to the Gulf of Mexico, during they years 1874-5. Toy calls it, A very interesting account of the voyage and of the rural South nine years after the close of the Civil War. And indeed, it is one of the great American small boat voyage books, as well as being an excellent read. Bishop has a sharp eye and his account is packed with telling detail. First edition, with 10 maps and 14 illustrations and plates. A lovely copy in near-fine condition, bound in publisher’s green cloth decorated in gold.
