Irving was in Spain, having completed his early biography of Columbus, when he discovered, and fell in love with, the Alhambra. Two volumes, bound as issued in tan muslin over boards with paper spine label lacking on volume I, but present on volume II. Top two inches of front blank in vol. I torn away, probably to remove an owner’s signature. Scattered foxing.
