The Adventures of Ernest Alembert.
Bronte (Charlotte).
Printed for Private Circulation Only, ( 1896), London
21 cm. (7), 8-37, (1 colophon) pp. b/w facsimiles
Price: $300
First edition, limited to 30 copies edited by Wise from a collection of Bronte juvenilia purchased from the Bronte family. This copy is bound in full morocco by Riviere. Front board detached, warped, and waterstained, as are front pastedown and free endpaper. However the damage stops there. Text is fresh and clean. Bound in at the end are the original Japanese vellum stiff wrappers and backstrip lettered in gold. Interestingly, though Wise states the limitation at 30, Worldcat seems to show 43 libraries holding copies. That’s Thomas Wise for you…
