Copied by A. Frank Hitchings with annotations by Stephen Willard Phillips. Featuring a double-page duotone plate of private signals of the commercial houses of Salem and Beverly, with over 100 b/w plates of Salem vessels. The book is inscribed to William Northey by David Pingree, 1921. Laid in is a one-page ALs from Salem resident Northey to “Dear Alby” offering to sell his collection of marine books. This is the first edition of a scarce book. Bound in tan cloth with leather label. Very good condition.
