Felter, William L.
Green Point Savings Bank., ( n.d. (circa 1920)), (Greenpoint NY)
8vo, 23 cm. 61 pp. b/w plates.
A brief account of the beginning and development of the northerly section of the borough of Brooklyn, City of New York, locally known as Green Point. Greenpoint’s history as it parallels the history of the Greenpoint Savings Bank. For this reason, as with so many other local histories of its era, this book tells the Establishment side of the story. Somehow the only mention of the area’s (until recently) dominant Polish culture is, “the vast problem of the Americanization of these people remained untouched. The native Green Pointers have done little or nothing to remedy this unfortunate condition…” Very good condition.
