This was the Charlestown State Prison, first opened in 1805. Charles Ponzi, Malcolm X, and Sacco and Vanzetti were notable inmates. “No. 16” appears in black ink at the top of the title page, suggesting that this was lifted from a collection of pamphlets. It has been rebound in 1/4 red morocco over tan cloth. Nothing but reprints online. Although digital iterations abound, Wordlcat shows only 4 libraries holding hard copies.
