Second edition of a scarce and handsome book, containing descriptions and views of the Feroe Islands, and an account of a whale hunt in Westmannhavens Bay, with a double-page lithograph depicting the action. Much is made of the anonymity of the author. Jenkins lists the work under Grieg. and gives no first name. Toy says, The author has not been positively identified, and mentions Davenport and Grieg. I’ve had a copy (Maritime List 157) with an Extract from Literary Gazette tipped onto the front pastedown. An inscription on this paper identifies E.H. Grieg and a man named Rathbone as the authors. Jenkins p. 104. Toy 927. Some spotting and wear to binding, still a nice copy bound in original cloth with portrait of the yacht in gold on the front board.
