“Origin of the first ‘Monitor’ and her subsequent career, down to the time of her being lost by foundering off Cape Hatteras.” With statistics, documents, etc. Title page reads “second edition.” I’ve had several copies in past years, and they are all “second edition.” This leads me to believe that the “first edition” was published as a pamphlet by the Buffalo Historical Society, for whom Dorr presented this study in January, 1874. Bound as issued in publisher’s green cloth with gold cover lettering. Six-line inscription, signed by Dorr to a Captain Rogers, 1874.
