A Brief History of Fish Glue.
Rogers Isinglass & Glue Co., ( n.d.), Gloucester, MA
Single sheet folded to 3 1/2 x 5 3/4 inch pamphlet, 4 pp. Blue-tinted halftone ills.
The front of this little flier features an image of the first setup for extracting fish glue from fish skins, with a “teakettle for making steam; tomato can for cooking skins…” This was in 1873 when John S. Rogers claims to have been the first to manufacture fish glue. The 3 following pages go through the history of the Rogers Co. and stress the importance of fish skins of the highest grade in making top-notch glue. Funky and fun. Very good condition.
