I’m here to tell you, folks, the Boston Book Fair was lovely. Move in and load out were smoother and faster than they’ve ever been. The hall was its usual resplendent self, and the odor of all that fresh carpet… Well, I suppose the closest thing is that New Car Smell. We were rarin’ to go. And so we did. I’m sure a few exhibitors had less-than-great results, but I’m equally certain everyone was happy to be back at work, greeting colleagues, customers and friends after a two-year interval. And if opening night energy seemed just a bit reduced (I noticed the same thing last February in both California fairs, and chalk it up to a Covid-induced hesitancy on the part of a few potential fair goers) there were still plenty of customers and visitors of all ages. Congratulations Betty, Julie, and the entire Commonwealth team. It’s great to be back!
