The silent movie, with its complicated plot involving Quakers, whales, intolerant fathers, boys meeting girls, and heroes overcoming difficulties, starred Clara Bow (third from left in enlarged dockside image) and was directed by Elmer Clifton. Much it was shot in New Bedford and at sea, resulting in some interesting images, four of which are offered here. Two of them feature whaleboat scenes, including a stove boat, and two of them are dockside shots of ladies, one of whom is Miss Bow. However, the whale ships, of which the “Charles Morgan” is one, steal the show.
