This is a gathering of books, manuscripts, and ephemeral items relating to the sea and its history. Highlights include a first edition of Brand’s Journal of a Voyage to Peru inscribed to colleague Michael Faraday, with what may be Faraday’s notes on the text, a manuscript book of slop accounts from the whaleship Morning Star, a rare example of a Fisherman’s Shipping Paper, and a wonderful piece by Robert Bennett Forbes on how to make ships safer for seamen, with large folding plates.
