Being an Introduction to All the Various Branches of Useful Learning and Knowledge… to Which is Added… a Brief Account of Naval and Military Affairs. The Naval and Military section is a 15-page glossary of army and navy terminology. A popular title which went through at least five editions, 1807-1814. This copy has a frontispiece dated 1811. Bound in full mottled calf with spine label. John and Allen Haselton, early owners, have covered the front pastedown and blank with enthusiastic attempts at fancy signatures, resulting in some show-though on the frontispiece verso of the front blank. OCLC identifies the author as Carrington Bowles. Each of the several editions is scarce, with only 2-6 copies scattered through various libraries.
