First edition. De Roos travelled the east coast from Washington up through Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston and Eastport, as far north as Halifax, then to Quebec. The 14 lithographed plates picture New York, Philadelphia, Halifax, as well as Niagara Falls and inland locations. His comments on naval affairs occur throughout, and are, as Smith notes, delivered from a British viewpoint. See Howes D-268. Smith II, 2344.
