Griffiths was an experienced officer who saw action in The Glorious First of June and Cape St. Vincent, among other important engagements. He also wrote a well-received book on seamanship. This is the first edition of his rare treatise against impressment. A very nice copy, bound in half polished calf over marbled boards with gilt spine lettering and decoration. A similar copy sold at auction for 353 pounds in 2023. As of September 2025 there is only a single copy online, offered at $1205.
