Clipper Ship Sailing Handbills.
Anon.

Price: $1750

Handbills announcing clipper ship sailings served the same function as the more decorative clipper ship sailing cards – to drum up freight business. The handbills were printed in one color only, and they are genuinely rare – unrecorded and not held in any collection. They were inexpensively printed and meant to be disposed of after use, which almost all of them were. This is a fine lot of handbills advertising the sailing of the clipper ships “Lookout,” “Valparaiso,” “Panama,” “Thatcher Magoun” “Lookout/Hornet” and “Swordfish.” Each measures 7 x 4 1/4 inches and the five of them are archivally matted, mounted, and framed.
