A historical sketch of the shipbuilding industry… This is a narrative history of shipbuilding in the coastal towns of Washington County, Maine, typewritten and photocopied, with full page photo plates on glossy paper. It features an interesting chapter on rum runners, beginning in 1846 when the first Prohibition law was enacted in Maine, and a valuable 26-page index of ships built in the several coastal town covered in the text. Second printing (the first was 1967) and certainly scarce. Not in Bakers Maine Shipbuilding: A Bibliographical Guide. Very good condition, bound as issued in paper folder.
